Magmus climbed out of bed when the warp drive was ready to make the next jump into the solar system en route back to the armada. The Space Dart was a quick vessel, but they had traveled through space for nearly two weeks from the armada and would have to make the same trip back.

The armada was holding off the Mulgor in a system several light years away. He would have to decide what to do with Cora once they returned to his ships. The Mulgor had infested the entire trade route, seeming to grow into an insurmountable force. The safest thing for his bride would probably be to return to Galaton while he continued the fight. But the thought of being without her was too much to bear. He had finally been united with his love, and he did not want to be separated from her again for any reason.

He considered his options as he made his way to the command deck of the Space Dart. The small crew who had come with him aboard the quick vessel were waiting for his command.

“Are we ready to jump?” Magmus asked.

“We are sir,” said Admiral Saka.

He had made sure that Cora was secure in her bed before leaving her in the chamber. He gave the command to enter warp speed and they took the jump. Unlike the bride ships provided by Draconia, many vessels could use warp speed, such as the armada, which was outfitted with the most advanced technology available to his kind. The bride ships had originally been designed for short tracks to Draconia from Earth and the Draconians were not willing to outfit any other vessels for the Galatonian brides.

In dealing with Draconia, Galaton was often on the losing side. The same was true with the Mulgor invasion. Draconia had not been willing to help Galaton, and the princes had been forced to raise their own army and defense. Now it was up to him to bring this invasion of Galatonian space to an end. No one would live safely as long as the Mulgor were in their trade routes.

As the Space Dart came out into the new system, Magmus breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing the system was clear of Mulgor vessels. They were one step closer to the armada and would join the rest of his warships in just a few days.

Leaving his crew on the command deck until the warp drive was powered up again, he made his way through the Space Dart back to his chambers to check on Cora. He walked into the bedroom and found her washed and dressed as she waited for the food replicator in his kitchenette. A cup of steaming hot liquid emerged from the counter, and she picked it up, testing the heat with her lips.

“How did you fare during the space jump?” he asked.

“It was fine. But I’m glad you’re back,” she said, walking across the chamber to stand beside him.

Her little body was endlessly enticing, and he wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her against him.
